A unique one-coat system for painting galvanized steelwork is being made more widely available following significant growth in demand.
Galvacoat delivers the most cost-effective and efficient method of applying an aesthetic finish to galvanized steel.
And the establishment of a new stock-holding facility will enable nationwide company Wedge Group Galvanizing Ltd to ramp up supply across the UK.
Mark Endsleigh, Commercial Support Manager at Wedge Group Galvanizing, explained: “Galvacoat is a product that delivers a unique single-coat application and it has become more and more popular in recent years.
“We’ve never needed to keep a significant amount of stock before, but demand is now so strong that we needed to beef up supply.
“The establishment of a specialist stock-holding warehouse and distribution centre means we can now deliver anywhere in the country without delay.”
Galvacoat is a two-part polyurethane system specifically designed to deliver highly durable adhesion on galvanized steel – and has key advantages over alternative applications, according to Mark.
He added: “Architects and specifiers are using it not only to provide a first class aesthetic finish on any type of galvanized steel framework but also because it’s single-coat method significantly reduces labour costs.
“There’s no need for any pre-treatment, it can be used on site and it’s massively durable. There are other coatings on the market but all require several applications of various pre-treatments to work effectively.
“Powder coating, which is the alternative to a paint finish, can be easily damaged and cannot be applied or touched up in-situ.”
The lifetime cost of Galvacoat is significantly cheaper than alternatives, which need to be replaced on a more regular basis.
It is compliant with all British Standard GT0 tests for adhesion on galvanized steel, can be applied by brush, roller or spray equipment and retains its original colour to within five per cent over 20 years.
Galvacoat is available in the UK only though Wedge Group Galvanizing – the leading hot-dip galvanizing firm in the UK.
The company is initially holding five standardised colours in stock – black, anthracite grey, traffic grey, moss green and signal white – but can source any RAL and BS colour at different levels of gloss on request.
Warehousing and nationwide delivery of Galvacoat will be carried out by JJX Logistics following the establishment of an exclusive ongoing partnership.
It ensures customers in any region of the UK now receive a standard 48-hour delivery service as well as the option of next-day delivery for any order ranging from parcels to pallet loads on stock colours.
Adam Bull, Commercial Director of JJX, said: “As specialists in time-critical logistics, we were chosen to deliver quicker product to market for Wedge Group Galvanizing.
“We’re also members of the Hazchem Network – the only UK network dedicated to the distribution of hazardous cargo. That, along with our expansive site in the Midlands, means we can react quickly to the demands of the galvanizing market.”
